Golf Mark

This Bulletin has been compiled to let all members of Mundesley Golf Club that we have been awarded the Golf Mark accreditation. Every one has heard of it and read about other clubs gaining it but now we have too. There is a summary below of what it is.

The English Golf Union (EGU) and the English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) developed the Golf Mark award to identify and acknowledge golf facilities in England that were junior and beginner friendly. The Golf Mark award also integrates Sport England’s Clubmark award – a national standard for quality sports clubs recognised country wide.
There are a number of benefits that Clubs can gain by achieving Golf Mark accreditation, including increased membership, raising the club’s profile, further development of coaches and volunteers and greater access to funding.
Golf Mark evaluates golf clubs on the following three areas within their junior section: coaching and playing: the club environment, including sports equity and ethics: child protection and duty of care.

Playing games with Juniors is encouraged in all types of Sport and especially Golf. Mundesley is striving to achieve the Golf Mark accreditation. If you are at all worried about playing with Juniors whatever the reason please talk to us about your concerns. Whether it is their ability or just that they are children perhaps we can allay your fears or pass on your comments to the club directors. The County Union is very active at recruitment of juniors right now so bring your children to a Saturday morning training session with our PGA Professional.

Many thanks to the team for their hard work in gaining this award.

Dave Clarke
Chairman of Junior Organising Committee
